The Shopify app, dropship tools like Duoplane, feeds and emailed POs, the order page, onboarding checklists and cards on file.
Pick a connection
Every retailer connects the way that suits them. Choose one when you add them, and change it any time on their page under Details.
| Connection | Products and stock | Orders | Tracking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify app | Imported with the free VendorDesk Connect app | Automatic from their store | Added to their Shopify order |
| Their dropship tool | Your feed, loaded into the tool | Emailed POs | Emailed |
| Feed and emailed POs | Your feed, by link or email | Emailed POs | Emailed |
| Order page | Optional feed | Typed in, or a CSV upload | On the order page, and emailed |
| EDI | EDI 846 | EDI 850 | EDI 856 |
Any retailer can also use the order page as a backup, if it’s switched on.
Dropship tools
Retailers who use a dropship tool load your feed into it and send you POs by email.
- Duoplane takes inventory from a vendor feed, not a catalog. The retailer lists your products in their store first (the full catalog feed helps), then Duoplane keeps stock up to date by SKU. Use the Duoplane inventory feed (SKU, quantity, cost).
- Flxpoint has its own preset with SKU, UPC, title, stock, cost, MSRP and MAP.
- Inventory Source, Spark Shipping and others: send the full catalog feed. Most tools can map any CSV.
Feeds
Each retailer has their own private feed link, in CSV, JSON or XML. It always has your latest stock and prices. Anyone with the link can read it, so share it only with that retailer.
For retailers who’d rather get the feed by email, add a Scheduled feed email on their page.
Emailed POs
Each retailer gets a private PO email address. They email a CSV of their orders to it.
POs must come from the retailer’s contact email. A PO from any other address is held for you to check, never dropped. If emailed POs are switched off for your program, any that arrive are held too.
The order page
A private page where a retailer types in orders or uploads a CSV, and sees tracking. There’s no login, so treat the link like a password. Switch it on or off for your whole program in Program settings.
Onboarding checklist
Every retailer’s page has a checklist. Some steps tick themselves when VendorDesk sees them happen: contact details on file, a connection set up, products listed, payment ready and the first order. Tick the others, like Terms agreed, by hand.
On Growth and Scale you can rename, remove and add steps in Program settings.
Card on file
Retailers who aren’t on net terms pay for each order by card. The card is saved in your own Stripe account, and VendorDesk never sees the card number. Each order is charged just before it’s created in your store, so you’re paid before you ship.
To ask a retailer for a card, open their page and choose Ask them to add a card. They get an email with a private link and add the card without logging in.
Orders from a retailer without a card wait. You can also mark an order paid if they pay another way.
Applications
Share your program page (in Program settings) and retailers can apply. On Growth and Scale you can add your own questions to the form, and the answers show on the retailer’s page.
