Scanner links, PINs, scanning on a phone and what happens offline.
Create a scanner link
- Open the event and find Door scanners.
- Give the door a label, such as “Front door”, and choose all sessions or one.
- Choose Create scanner link.
A dialog shows a QR code, the link (with Copy) and a 6-digit PIN. Door staff scan the QR code with their phone camera, or you send them the link.
Choose Show link next to a door at any time to see its QR code and link again. The PIN is shown only when it’s made: if it’s lost, choose New PIN. Phones already signed in stay signed in; to sign every phone out, revoke the link.
Links expire a day after the event’s last session. Revoke one at any time from the same panel.
The Free and Pro plans include one active scanner link across your store. Plus includes as many as you need.
Scanning at the door
- Scan the link’s QR code with the phone camera (or open the link) and enter the PIN. Staff don’t need a Shopify login.
- Choose Start scanning and point the camera at a ticket’s QR code.
The scanner shows Admit with the guest’s name and ticket type. A ticket that was already scanned shows Already checked in, and a voided ticket is rejected.
If a code won’t scan, search by name, email, order number or ticket code.
If the connection drops
Keep the scanner page open. It saves the guest list for the session, so scanning carries on offline and syncs when the phone reconnects. The phone deletes its saved list when the link is revoked or expires, or the next time the scanner opens once the list is two days old.
Check in from the admin
You can also check guests in, or undo a check-in, from the attendee list in EventDesk.
